Is this fair?
That's my venting over, as I was saying they are very common amongst females coming in a variation of styles and colours, and nowadays I've seen a few males wearing them, and they are often slated as gay or camp. I personally think they're alright well only the classic black pair anything else is way too far out of the comfort zone. On my trips to Amsterdam I've seen males in abundance wearing them with Moncler jackets and I must say it drops nicely. That being said no matter how many times I hear how comfortable or how warm they are I highly doubt you will find me galavanting around the capital with them on, well not for now anyway.
So as I leave I ask what are your thoughts on men wearing Ugg's? And also if your Ugg's are slumped or leaning please put them to a side and accept that a new pair (real or fake) maybe your best option.
Men in uggs = MUGGS.
ReplyDeleteA nice AUTHENTIC pair of uggs in prime condition can be the perfect compliment to an outfit as we discussed. Those fly broni bitches with their leggings, PB or Barbour jackets and the Louis Vuitton.

ReplyDeleteI've maintained my stance that "Ugg Australia's" are UGLY.... but sooo WARM! I was given a pair of hand-me-down Uggs (my boyfriends mother bought two pair at a yard sale, classic and Ugg Ultimate). The Classic sat around for TWO YEARS untouched. It wasn't until negative 10 degrees temperatures hit and my old winter boots "bit the dust" that I decided to wear them. (they are labeled two sizes smaller than I normally take. I was going to give them to my niece, but her feet are bigger than mine). I've been wearing them for the past two winters, mostly around my house and a quick run to the supermarket.
The Ultimate sat around for FOUR YEARS, as they were 3 sizes too big for me, and 2 sizes too big for my BF. I was planning on selling them, and buying a REAL WINTER boot. Until my BF needed warm boots, hewas wearing mine around the house when his feet got cold. So I dug out the Ultimate's for him. He only wears them around my house, still deciding if I want to sell them, as used ones in good condition are going for at least $80 on ebay!
I recently found out that "Uggs" is a GENERIC term for "SHEEPSKIN boots". Two MALE Surfers in Australia created them in 1960's for wearing after surfing in the cold water. BUT the sheepskin boot has been around since the 1800's. Wikipedia has the whole history of them.
When I was shopping at the mall and saw RJ's Fuzzies boots (Trixie boot has a better sole than the "Ugg Classic" or clunky Ultimate). I decided if I really wanted them I'd go back, as I'm not impulse buying them at $190.
Upon reading online of how to refresh Uggs I discovered this and many other blogs. Ugg looking boots are at Payless Shoestore for $40, and they have rave reviews. Which has me wondering how young people are that are giving the reviews, as they are synthetic =hot and SWEATY.
I will also note I am not into fashion, comfort is my deciding factor in choosing shoes at a size 10WW (8EEEE in men's and suppose to wear orthopedic insoles. I also believe you don't HAVE to tuck your pants into boots, that's what BOOT CUT PANTS ARE FOR!
Not sure who popularized them in the USA, my BF says Oprah...
I was the first person I knew to wear "Crocs" (actually Airwalk from Payless Shoe Store). The teenagers at work looked at me funny, but sure enough within 2 years time, EVERYONE had them!
Back to Uggs...when the outer soles wear out what do people do with the perfectly good upper boot (resoling cost $75, which hardly seems worth it). I looked on Pinterest for refashioning them, but so far no luck.
