Something for the Season

That season is coming "winter", some may argue it's here already but none the less brands continue to put out their fall/winter collections.

Italian brand "Camo" have released some products from their winter collection which includes some nice but simple knit wear, their items can be identified with the big brown button.

Other items include a simple scarf/hood sort of combination, once again it can be identified by the brown button. I like the idea of it but I don't see myself wearing it any time soon.

Both the scarf and knitwear having matching beanies for those who like to co-ordinate (swag)

To round out the collection Camo have released a double breasted nylon jacket, it looks similar to a barbour jacket, but has a more stylish edge.

A Night With The Gunners

Been away for a while, went to see the Gooners midweek against West Brom.
Decent game, good atmosphere, parking in North London on matchdays, madness just ask Ade.

Nosebleed seats, I know but still a lot of stuff. And we won as well.

Wishlist

Since I'm going away for a lil piece, like the boy Danté. Decided to post before I leave, nowhere special (Colchester) just without regular Internet. Just showing what I'm onto right now, 2 albums, 2 pairs of kicks and 2 pieces of clothing. The credit crunch and the wait for Student Loan is no joke.

Albums

Some are saying a return to form, some are saying hyped-up, need to listen for myself, so I can form an opinion.

A toss up between this and Raekwon's Only Built for Cuban Linx Pt II. I picked this because I will eventually buy The Chef's long awaited sequel, its just that musically this could be an impressive album rock gods MGMT are on this. Also Cudder impressed me when I saw him at the o2 Wireless Festival earlier this summer and yes, I buy albums.

Kicks
Not really a fan of hi-top trainers, but always believe a classic pair should be in your rotation of wearable kicks. I had a an obsession with all white Air Force Ones I recently dropped. Also wanted a pair of Jordans and this model, (4's in the series) in my opinion is the best one.
Yes, Vans appear on this blog again. Both of us are obviously fans. I just want these to replace to my other ones, they broke, yes broke, there is a tear in one of them. Madness I know.

Pieces of Clothing
Into a lot of black right now, just a plain fitted black tee. Extra smedium as well to show my 'muscles'. 'My clothes aren't tight, n**** they're cosy'. I agree Weezy couldn't say it better myself.

A name badge, cos that will mean I am employed. That's it.

I won't be gone 'til November. Promise.

Same Name, Same Stage.

I was listening to 'Hello Brooklyn' earlier and I thought of this.

Two of the best to do it. Wayne saying 'Best Rapper Alive, Next Rapper In Line'. Nice.

It's All In The Jeans

Inspired by the NFL shoulder pad fanatic at Kind of Like A Big Deal, who made a interesting post about not wearing jeans, I decided to make a post about the alternatives for men.

A current trend I see just bubbling under the radar before is chinos. I have spoken about them before here, the thing about them they can smarten up an outfit.
Or can be worn casually, like so.

Cords. They may look like jeans from far but they're not. Don't look too bad, but I am not a fan due to earlier experiences with them in my childhood. Wow, dark green corduroys. Lol.

Shorts. An obvious pick, for when you are not wearing jeans. Make sure you wear them when it's kind of hot and please cream your legs. Properly as well. Nothing worse than a fresh pair and ashy legs.

The blue ones are more my style. Best believe them Evisu's will be seen everywhere in Malia/Ayia Napa/Miami or wherever the Summer '010 spot will be.

A Matter Of Opinion

What's going on people? My brothers and I are at loggerheads over a pair of Air Max 90's I purchased a while ago. These kicks features a mostly radiant black upper with radiant emerald laces and Air Max branding. White swooshes, lace locks, sock lining and tongue add to the mix of the design. An radiant emerald sole with black visible air unit trim adds even more style to the classy kicks.

I've recently come across the same pair but in a new colour-way. They have replaced the radiant emerald with plain emerald. I must admit I am fan of this pair, however my brother Marc still thinks that their weak!

It appears myself and my youngest brother, Malcolm are fans of these Air Max 90's but Marc continues to disagree.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so Nu World let me know where you stand on this one.
Peace

So Far Gone, Or Is He?

Undoubtedly one of the best things to come out of Canada besides Maple syrup and what ever else they are renowned for, he has the roads and Facebook statuses screaming “I just want to be successful” and the ladies feeling the light-skinned men again.

Drake is most definitely the man of the moment hands down, he’s got a mad buzz and is recognised as possibly as the future and front man of the new generation of the rap game.

Signed to Young Money where he’s under the wing of Wayne, its fair to say he is very much in the limelight but when your in the limelight the critics will always throw stones at you, that is why I ask is he “So Far Gone?”

I first became aware of Drake after a trip to America a few years back, my cousin showed me about a tv program called Degrassi. A Canadian show about the lives of a group of teenagers who lived on DeGrassi Street, whilst watching it I came across a light-skinned boy who was in a wheel chair after being shot. Based on his appearance I thought he was a wasteman (anyone who watched the show would know what I'm on about). A couple years later my cousin showed me about Drake formerly known as Jimmy, an actor turned rapper who dropped a mixtape that I should really listen to, my first thought was to myth her recommendation but it wouldn't kill me to listen.

I think it might be the best thing she has ever suggested to me in her life! Shouts to Aretha. After listening to his mixtape "Comeback Season" with tracks like "Barry Bonds Freestyle, Asthma Team Freestyle, Teach You A Lesson, Don't You Have A Man" just to name a few, these tracks showed lyrical capabilities, great promise and an artist that wasn't afraid to bear his soul through his music. Although I must say I wasn't really feeling his vocals but this did not deter me from following his movement.

"Don't You Have A Man"

The follow up to this was "So Far Gone", this mixtape is what gained Drake mainstream recognition as an artist and not as a rapper. "So Far Gone" illustrates growth and maturity in tracks such as "Say Whats Real", as he paints a picture of his career with uncompromising honesty, "So she wonder where my mind is accounts in the minus/ But yet I'm rolling round the fuckin city like your highness". Here the 22 year-old rapper is explaining how he and his mother were not seeing eye to eye on the matter of renting a Rolls Royce, despite finances not being so healthy. The LP also shows improved vocals on tracks such as "Night Off".

"Say Whats Real"

"Night Off ft. Lloyd"

Which artist has two video's released, off a free mixtape one of which was directed by Kanye West? The answer is Drake. In a nutshell this LP and the unprecedented buzz it has created has earned him the right to believe he is "So Far Gone".Although I feel he is not at the end of the tunnel, just yet.

Nu World what do you think, is Drake "So Far Gone?"

Back Like I Never Left

Hey Nu World, I know I've become a lazy blogger but it's not my fault my laptop went AWOL on me and I'm waitng for HP to send it back! Furthermore my time has been consumed by unforseen circumstances aka I'm back in employment!

But after a brief hiatus I'm here to let you know I'm back like I never left watch this space closely.

I believe I have got some serious material and you'd be silly to not have a look. Thanks to the people who have been commenting and taking time to appreciate the posts. One more thing its not Denté it's Danté but no hard feelings!

A Star Is Born?

'Fuck scales, I had skills, all day rehearsing.'

Late I know, just went through all of this the other day. Impressed.

Interesting fact:Cole was born in Frankfurt but moved to North Carolina at the age of 1.

With honest, well-delivered lyrics, and a reflective yet cocksure persona, J Cole definitely has talent. Adding to his mic skills, behind the boards he is equally adept. His production reminds me, of a mix of college dropout Kanye and Soundtrakk (Lupe Fiasco). This mixtape is his second after the release of 'The Come Up'.
Despite being light-skinned and being backed by Jay-Z's Roc Nation, I don't see a large commerical following in the works anytime soon. This is because he is a lot more lyrical than musical, the opposite of Kid Cudi for instance. Not taking anything away from Scott Mescudi, he is just aware his strengths lie in his melodies.

Cole is a gifted musician, hopefully he secures a distribution deal, at the moment only managed by Roc Nation, I am pretty sure a Rock The Bells type crowd (think like hardcore Nas fans) can keep this guy in the game, under the radar but lyrically respected similar to that of Mr Kick, Push.

Listen closely, the mixtape has a bunch of quotables.

My favourite tracks are 'Dreams', 'Get Up' and 'Lights Please'. A direct link for his mixtape was hard to find, Zshare were not having a bar.

As I said, J Cole is fresh out of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Hold tight my cousins Alex and Victoria from Raleigh. Got em! Aisha I see you out there going dumb in the Bay!

Enjoy the mixtape.

Blog Out.

Got My Vans On...

If you're one of the folk that has to be dipped head to toe, in one label whether it be Polo Ralph Lauren, Gucci or Primark. Then this is for you. The only trouble is, this look is Vans only.

Working with items sold at Urban Industry only.

Denim shirts are the one right about now, especially the worn out looking ones. From the website, there wasn't a lot of shirts to choose from for me apart from plaid/check and I wanted to steer away from that.

The actual Denim listed in the Vans section, only gave me 3 options so I opted for some shorts.

Some decent chocolate shorts, not really feeling the badge thingybobby, but it can run. Keeping in mind, things are tough economically, I looked at prices. The shorts and shirt only come up to £65 and if you can't afford to buy the kicks, I say in summertime, break out the flip-flops and it will look like effortless swag. Hopefully.

However as Student Loan/EMA should be dropping soon, you should be alright to complete the outfit. Those Van's ain't new but they're decent and only £25. Meaning the outfit only costs £99. Not bad alie. Shirt-£24.99. Shorts-£40.00. Shoes-£25.00

Any thoughts on the outfit top-to-bottom?

NFL Draft Picks?

Looking at runways, fashion blogs and my glancing at my little sister's fashion magazines, it looks the autumn/winter fashion trend for women this year is going to be shoulder pads.

Well I don't understand, why looking like a character out of Dallas (iconic TV show) or a tryout for the NFL.

I'm all one for trends, and going retro which in an essence is like going back to the future. But what will annoy me is when it gets out of hand and every girl, child, woman and granny will wear it at the wrong time, just because it is in. Like wet look leggings, looking like shiny extended lederhosen to me, even though accuentuating a women's lower body.

But what is gonna rile me up is when i see a school girl wearing plimosoles with multi-coloured laces, a Just-Do-It bag and a school blazer with shoulder pads. Trust me that day will come.

Please ladies, there is a place and time for everything. Danté has been mad busy and he is without laptop right now, but will be back soon.

Live from Blue Borough

I've been looking for this tune for a long time, first heard it on Ras Kwame's 1Xtra Homegrown show. Definitely a banger, P Money and Little Dee have been going hard since school days, no lie.

Little Dee just dropped his new mixtape, 'Once In A Blue' and it's available at HMV.

I think it's a great look for SE8/14 personally, what do you think? The guitar riffs are lot of stuff I know.

Welcome To The Glee Club

A Glee Club is a choir that usually consisted of men with mixed voices, in the singing of short songs, in quartets or trios.

The first one was founded in London, 1787. Glee Club members can be considered nerds, usually of a very high intellect and for their dress sense formal, even at young ages.

Well for me, the Glee Club or at least dressing like a member is smart fashion with a casual laid-back twist, think a fly Carlton Banks - I have to salute the fitted RL polos.
Smart fashion is in right now, bowties making a comeback from nowhere after the 'trendy folk' abandoned them in the 70's.

Chinos are a bit baggy, but you should catch my drift.

Boat Shoes. Arguably the most popular trend in mens footwear over the summer, I have a pair myself. I believe you can't wear trainers everywhere and they can help smarten up a outfit.

Chinos. Sometimes called slacks and usually associated with husbands, chinos are being adopted by the younger generation in their droves. Like denim, they can go with a lot of things like polos, shirts, even plain white tees. Yes, Footlocker Ones. You can break them off nicely with all white plimsoles or Vans.

Oversized Glasses. I see a lot of people are rocking the oversized 'neeky' or 'nerd' glasses, some even going as far to poke out the lenses. Think about the American TV sitcom stereotype of your average nerd, big glasses, braces (clothing and dental) bow ties and chinos.

I know the Glee Club in reality is a choir or a group, but for me its a mindset, a look and a style.

Any thoughts on smart fashion in menswear?
