The Game Runners event for the social game, BLOCKS, took place on the Friday just gone. The Public Open Day took place in Brick Lane, and both members of HNW were in attendance, Its The Leak also made a cameo appearance. Yours truly, failed miserably and went out in the first round. Dantz went through to the third round, one away from the final, so at least someone from the team repped. By the time the competition rolled around, there was a healthy amount of people.
The game is about logic and slowly building your tower of blocks, it may look simple, but you had to make sure each side touching, matched the correct symbol. Well that's my excuse anyway. The life sized blocks were used in the final round and added to the excitement.
The winner of the competition won a PlayStation 3 and a PlayStation Move motion controller. The event went well, and below are some pics of what went down.
Just recently, I had informed you all about the Games Runners event, with some background info and what have you. Now I can let you know about the Public Open Day, which happens on Friday 8th October and will be held at Ely's Yard, The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, E1. The event is sure to be a lot of stuff, not only will there be a free tournament for members of the public to try their hands at BLOCKS but also a live paint session. The Hey Nu World Boys will be in attendance and the festivities start at 12pm and are due to finish at 8.30pm.
Okay today, the excited folk are buying Fifa and already writing off Pro, these fools never learn, in four weeks they will no longer be in love with Fifa and its great cosmetic features. You see, Fifa is like a pretty girlfriend, that hooks you in with her looks, but doesnt do nothing, after a while you will be bored. Sure there a lot of nice accessories to play with, but its not long before you realise, she is not for you.
Pro is a decent looker, but is like a ride or die chick, who doesn't do everything to please but ultimatley knows what you want and what will make you push your buttons. Better gameplay, a new online Master League feature and an revamped Become A Legend mode, I will be foaming at the mouth on the 8th of October, the same day as other real football fans.
PlayStation Game Runners is a fresh and innovative project, where people from all walks of life have come together to create social games.
The project which is a brain-child of Sony and Hide & Seek, where 8 people were chosen as game designers to make three games relevant to the public.There were three games Flags, BLOCKS and Hoops, with BLOCKS being selected as it was the most popular game.
BLOCKS is a three-dimensional game of strategy and precision movement. If you are having trouble following, it is basically like a life-sized game of building blocks, and the loser is the first person unable to keep the tower standing, or who runs out of time to make a move.
On Friday 8th October, there will be an open day where anyone can drop in and try BLOCKS, location has not been confirmed, but I for one will be in attendance.
