The Making of Don't Hold Your Applause

The beauty of YouTube. I watched a Wale interview and forgot to close the video and went to watch Match Of The Day. After almost falling asleep (long day), I came back to my laptop and the Wale interview was still up. YouTube suggested a few related videos, I get to this one eventually. I find out my favourite intro to appear on an album in 2011 was supposed to be a on a mixtape released in 2010.

Tone P is a real talent. Listen to the finished product below.

Meet Meek Mill and Dave Patten

Stumbled on this video, and only checked it because I liked the sound of Meek on Rick Ross' latest mixtape, Ashes to Ashes. Through this video I discovered Dave Patten, not only a singer and producer, but also a video director. Patten really delivers a nice hook, and I think the video is serious.

Both hailing from Philadelphia, these two are set for bigger and better things in 2011. Dave Patten has been attracting interest and turning heads with his various talents combined with his rock-crooner style voice over hip-hop beats. Meek has me sold and apparently Rozay too, Bawse is supposedly in the process of inking Meek's signature to his Maybach Music Group Imprint, along with Wale.

Another video from the duo, not a fan as much of 'Believe Me' (above) but really like the verse supplied by PA spitter. Nice to see two different musical styles meshing well, its funnt, one video, kicked off a lot of research and now this.

Corporate Thugs

They even paint people's houses and shops with the logo and featuring the company's colours. No cost, just a really good paint job which works out as great publicity and high visibility for their company.

Pics were obviously taken, guerilla style. Forgive me.

Fast Lane

The newest G.O.O.D. Music signee, Cyhi Da Prynce recently dropped a mixtape, Royal Flush, to announce his arrival to the mainstream. He has been popping up on a few of Kanye's G.O.O.D. Friday tracks, and also on the now famous BET cypher with all his labelmates. Before linking up with the house that 'Ye built, he has been signed to Def Jam since February. A raspy voice, nice flow and clever lyrics can describe this song 'Fast Lane'. The song has a laid back feel, and the hook is also nice.

Should be seeing more of Cyhi in the new year.

DD172 Complex

Dame Dash might be the reason why I miss all my lectures next week, because if I could I would be at DD172- a multi levelled complex owned by rap mogul Dame Dash. The building is home to two state-of-the art recording studies and an art gallery.

What I love about Dash's basement is the random guests that can turn up. MCs, just come and chill, record something, smoke something and most probably drink something. They just jam. You might catch my guy, Curren$y (formely of Young Money), Jay Electronica, The Cool Kids or the ecleftic Mos Def on any given Sunday. Some pretty dope stuff.

Here is a video about some of the daily goings-on.

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

If it has ever been the season to be jolly it is truly now with "snow falling all around us, children playing having fun" (literally) a few days prior to Christmas all is looking well and a white Christmas is on the cards. Upon my travels today, whilst not trying to slip on the icy roads of Colchester I came across a limited edition pack of Oreo's

They look exactly as they do on the box, unlike your usual Mcdonalds advert where your shown a cheeseburger with perfection, and when you buy it, it looks like some one was playing with lego!

If you are to come across them, be sure to purchase and share them as there are 8 in the pack plus it is that "festive season"?

Peace
