'Dunking On A Reindeer'

If you didn't know, Nike have a running basketball ad campaign where Kobe and Lebron are puppets. There are a whole bunch of vids online, but this one is about Santa (KRS-One) and the MVPuppets being challenged by the cocky Blitzen (Lupe Fiasco) and his team. Very funny, especially the chopped n screwed bit at the end.

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

If it has ever been the season to be jolly it is truly now with "snow falling all around us, children playing having fun" (literally) a few days prior to Christmas all is looking well and a white Christmas is on the cards. Upon my travels today, whilst not trying to slip on the icy roads of Colchester I came across a limited edition pack of Oreo's

They look exactly as they do on the box, unlike your usual Mcdonalds advert where your shown a cheeseburger with perfection, and when you buy it, it looks like some one was playing with lego!

If you are to come across them, be sure to purchase and share them as there are 8 in the pack plus it is that "festive season"?

Peace

Question Time...

At Hey Nu World we are trying to make this a feature every month to try and interview somebody making progress in their industry/scene this month we present to you question time with Chipmunk!

HNW: What’s going on Chipmunk now let me ask you after 3 mix tapes, 2 MOBO’s awards, 1 album all at the age of 18 and your being acknowledged by music pundits such as “Simon Cowell” how does it feel?

Chip: It feels good to know my work is being acknowledged by people with such status such as Simon Cowell, I’ve worked hard to get here. You know where we are from opportunities don’t present themselves to you. So to say I put the work in is understatement, you get me, you reap what you sow?

HNW: I’ve been following your music for some time now when you used to spit bars such as “I’m not Peter Pan but where I’m from is Netherland” and also” “When you spit your bredrins increase like unironed clothes” what and how did you develop your lyrics from now till then?

Chip: (Laughs) ahh man that’s old school (laughs), just writing really nonstop and working hard

HNW: is there anything or anyone who keeps you on your toes/keeps you to maintain the levels?

Chip: Me myself and I, to be honest I just keep trying to raise the standard, I set each time my pen hits the pad or every time I’m in the booth

HNW: You recently worked with Beverly Knight what was it like recording with her?

Chip: She’s been in the game for a while, she’s well respected it was a good experience she might feature on my next album?

HNW: On that note I recently was on a train, a man and his son where both listening to your album both bumping their heads hard as they were enjoying the music . What was the mindset when making the album?

Chip: When I started making the album my mindset was just to do me and not follow anyone else, and to make sure I cater for everyone I got songs on there for the man dem, songs that we can all relate to such as oopsy daisy.

HNW: I understand you have your video blog called “Chip TV”, what’s that about?

Chip: basically it’s just a day in the life of me really just being me, like you’ll see me kicking ball, cooking and doing shows and that. Other artists do this and that to build a brand, but I’m just giving people an insight to my life.

HNW: I was recently watching one episode of Chip TV and you were performing in Scotland, what’s it like when you do shows?

Chip: The best feeling is when the crowd are singing your songs back to you, that feeling I can’t describe apart from that I used to get butterflies when I used to first go on stage but now I’m cool I just get in the zone and let it flow from there. My most memorable show was performing at Wembley in front of 30,000 people it was crazy!

HNW: So what is next for Chipmunk?

Chip: I got the new video out “Look for Me” people watch out for it, and also I got the tour coming up next year should be starting in February. Apart from that just more hard work!

HNW: Thanks for your time Chip, we really appreciate it.

Chip: No problem shouts to Hey Nu World people check it out and tell a friend to tell a friend.

All I Want For Christmas..

Since I like posting my shortlists or lists of any kind really, here is my Christmas wishlist, all my one-way Secret Santas look carefully.

Remember I was talking about a denim shirt time ago, still havent' found one. Well I still haven't found one and money is low, but you get the drift. One like this, will do just fine.

The Office Season 3 on DVD. Probably my favourite show on television along with Scrubs and Football Tonight on Sky Sports News. Every year, myself and HMV have an agreement in place where they supply with me a new series, only trouble, I still have to pay.

For my beloved Arsenal to shoot up the table and be as close as possible to the Premier League leaders. If we are top come New Year's day, I won't need any of the other present.

To have gone back in time, on been on the set of the Young Money 'Bed Rock' video. Looks like a lot of stuff.

The Thornton Brothers: Jacks Of All Trades

The Thornton brothers aka the Clipse are back on their grind, with the new album slated for a late 2009 release “Till The Casket Drops” the end of 2009 looks like a very prosperous for the brothers. Singles include "Kind Of Like A Big Deal" featuring Kanye and also the latest single “I’m Good” featuring Pharrell .

As well as their radio singles, The Clipse still have their trademark cocaine raps which can be found on their street singles "Doorman" or "Popeyes" with Killa Cam himself.

In addition their clothing line “Play Cloths” has dropped a new collection for the holiday with what I believe are some exciting pieces. Pieces include a few beanies which represent an adolescent, but are still suitable for all. My favourite would have to be the all red beanie with the Play logo on it. Other pieces to collection are a “Play Varsity” jacket

For me it’s a revamp of BBC/Ice Cream and I must say I like. The Virginia natives are going in right now and I await the arrival of their album because if you know Clipse, you know they put out quality material. Non-believers should just go and listen to 'Hell Hath No Fury'.

Levis x Porter

It’s another feature from the Japanese brand porter, this time round they have collaborated with Levis the world renowned denim brand. This collection is available in a messenger bag as well as tote bag. The bag is black all over but to signify the Levis x Porter collaboration on the Levis you are used to the red label with “Levis” onit however this time round it has “Porter”as always the porter logo can be located on the bag in the corner. This bag will cost you 33,607 yen and if you convert that its £260 :/ I don’t think I will be purchasing this anytime soon as I have bills to pay, but a boy is allowed to dream right?

5 Things I Can't Get My Head Round

#1.Them X factors parasites still being there and having a chance of winning.

#2. Thierry Henry potentially ruining his reptuation over the blatant 'handball' which set up the goal that sent France to South Africa and Ireland packing, because of a split second, may be viewed as cheat on these shores for ever. So sad

#3. This wolfboy vampire rubbish, 'Twilight' that has girl of all ages swooning and is going to take over the world for the next two weeks. Its not even the attention of the girls that bothers me, I just think everyone is gassed up off the hype.

#4. Can't believe a 50 Cent album came out with such little fanfare, the video with Ne-Yo dropped like a day ago and there (well for me anyway) has no been no presence virally or on the airwaves. Really thought Interscope would push it back again. I've checked 'Before I Self Destruct' is really out. No really it is.

#5. Was about to go with the fact 2009 is almost over but I have and I am sure you will have heard about the Beyonce featuring Gaga 'Video Phone' clip. Madness.

Who Says?

Random I know, but a great song from a great musician. I bring to you John Mayer and 'Who Says'. Enjoy.

WTF Is A Snood?

Apparently this winter, the fashion must have accessory for men and women is a 'snood'. A snood is a like a merge between a scarf and hood, it is worn round your neck and was seen quite prominently in a few fashion shows over the Fashion week calendar recently. Burberry seem to be the brand that is most excited about snoods, displaying them on many of their catwalk shows.

Below, a couple of snoods from Burberry.

They have been seen everywhere on the runways, so it is only a matter of time before we seem them in high streets on campuses.

Examples of when snoods are worn as headscarves.

Any opinions people?

Blak Roc

Music mogul and Ex Rocafella head honcho, Dame Dash is still running with the Roc. This time its a musical project, he is behind working with American rock-blues group 'The Black Keys' and merging them with 11 rappers and singers of his preference. Think like a rocky kind of soulful blues. So far he has recruited Jim Jones, Mos Def, Raekwon, Nikki Wray and the album also features the likes of Billy Danze from M.O.P, Pharoahe Monch and Q-Tip, Ludacris, RZA and NOE from Byrd Gang.

Very exciting, the fusion of styles, the instrumentation, the mix of rappers. Check out the trailer, basically a introduction of the project, Blak Roc and looking at some segments of recording the project.

I don't just listen to Drake and Weezy all day. Stay tuned for more on Blak Roc.

Better Late Than Never

Founded by designer Paul Budnitz in 2002, kidrobot is the world’s premier designer and retailer of limited edition art, toys and apparel. Their toys are innovative and to some it may be a collectors item as kidrobot tends to produce limited numbers of their products, this can be found on the majority of their apparel.

The figurines posted are made form soft vinyl the one above is "munny" it is undecorated toy left for the consumer to let their imagination run wild with, whereas the figurine posted below is known as a "dunny" which artists and designers are asked to implement their own style, the figurine below is the work of Frank Kozik an artist originally from Spain who now lives in America.
The new kidrobot store will opening up Earlham Street on the 19th November. Check it out.

"Look At His Pea Coat, Tell Me He's Broke Part 2"

For those who have been following HeyNuWorld from its earlier days you may recognise the title of this post, last time I brought to your attention the Vans pea coat Chukka's I now bring to you a home grown brand called "Admiral".

Admiral has been about since 1914 and was the official supplier of the British Royal Navy. They have taken the pea coat idea and applied to the footwear similar to the vans, however I feel they have implemented the idea of the pea-coat better as they have the flap which folds to enable the shoe to close as does the coat. Furthermore there are more buttons when compared to the Vans.

I once again stand undecided about these shoes, it can be dropped but only with the correct dress sense. I see it best fitting an international student particularly the Eastern Asian ones, Uni students, browse your campus and tell me if there dress sense isn't space boy fly!

Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski – Obsidian

On Kicks On Fire I saw Nike have teamed up with skateboarder Stefan Janoski to create a skateboarding performance shoe. I don't know, they kind of look like a Nike version of boat shoes. All I am saying is that if the Swoosh logo had was replaced with the Vans logo, you would see them on campus and at the bottom of many Facebook Uni-Rave pictures. Thoughts?

No Ceilings

Lil' Wayne has dropped a new mixtape, no auto-tune, no gimmicks just some Drought 3, A Milli-esque type stuff. The 'Run This Town Freestyle' is deadly. Since Wayne is going to jail soon (will prob get sentenced in February) expect a never ending supply of Dwayne Carter until he comes back out.

Voicemail Season

Pro 2010 has come, that is it. If the whole male species goes quiet for a month you know why.

Good Ol' Fried Chicken

My favourite VA natives (Virginia if you didn't know) The Clipse are about to return apparently in December with their third LP, 'Till The Casket Drops. The Thornton brothers are lyrical beasts, detailing their past times about moving that 'white girl'. I have never heard such colourful and imaginary references to cocaine in my life. A song featuring Harlem's own Pink Panther, Cam'Ron has surfaced this week, I haven't heard it yet, but the look of the video from pictures and the name of the song 'Popeyes' has me on a hype.

It is good to see Cam wearing clothes from this era. Recently he has been sporting upside down Gucci visors hats for way too long. No joke.

Long Time Coming

Firstly, I know this blog has been non-active for a while. Things had to be done and instruments are about to put in place, to never allow that 'hour' of silence to occur again. We are sorry. Now back to regular scheduled programming.

Shine

It's been a little while since we have posted anything music-related. Soul singer Jesse Boykins III has just released a new video of his LP, 'The Beauty Created', a track titled 'Shine'. Dante, if you remember earlier posted one of his tracks on the site here. Decent track, easy listening.

What do you lot think?

Glee Club: ASOS Winter Wrap Star Edition

Yeah as you know, Summer has ended and Winter is about to be here for a little while. Rather than giving you some random Winter items, I only worked with items displayed in the Asos Wrap Star Section and with the mindset of a Glee Club member.

Thought I would do top to bottom, but with a reindeer hat on, for me that kind of defeats the aim of being smart, casual. But that's just me.

The scarf is a bit long, but should drop nicely with the rest of the outfit.

Cable knit cardigans are popular, because they are chunky in order to fight off the cold and I am personally liking the shirt under the cardigan as well. Nice touch.

Spoke about corduroy jeans before but these are decent and also show the Converse's I would recommend or plimsoles. They only had this type in the ASOS Section:
Now maybe I'm too young or not Paris Fashion Week enough, but I can't see myself wearing these. I don't work with timber nor do I operate bulldozers.

Holler at me.

African Stanky Legg?

Yeah this random I know, but this little boy has some moves.

No lie. Lol at the all-in-one swagger and the chickens running around. What do you lot think, a lot of stuff? Or just average?

Money To Blow

With student loans dropping any day now, some people might be going over hard in the first few weeks of term. I'm thinking we might see a lot of Plaid/Check shirts, Vans, beanie & wooly hats and jeggings on campus.

I know uni is uni, but don't go too hard on the alcohol, because memories (not including your own) and Facebook can be a bitch. You've been warned.

It's Nearly That Time Again

I'm no Mystic Meg, I don't really believe in star signs and horoscopes but I can predict that by the end of October and the beginning of November may put a strain on peoples relationships, and peoples phone calls may get mythed.

Yes, the time is nearly upon us the arrival of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Football Manager 2010 and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 are not to far off. Fifa 10 just dropped this Friday.

Girls you may find cold winter nights that much colder, or you may find yourself in a hot sweaty room full of angry males dedicating their time to these games religiously. Peoples ego's will be challenged, some will leave feeling emasculated it's emotional!

Flygeria!

To all the Naija followers of the heynuworld.blogspot.com here is a new anthem for you Mark Henry, G-Frsh, Tinie Tempah, Dotstar and Bigz present to you "Flygeria"

Enjoy

Something for the Season

That season is coming "winter", some may argue it's here already but none the less brands continue to put out their fall/winter collections.

Italian brand "Camo" have released some products from their winter collection which includes some nice but simple knit wear, their items can be identified with the big brown button.

Other items include a simple scarf/hood sort of combination, once again it can be identified by the brown button. I like the idea of it but I don't see myself wearing it any time soon.

Both the scarf and knitwear having matching beanies for those who like to co-ordinate (swag)

To round out the collection Camo have released a double breasted nylon jacket, it looks similar to a barbour jacket, but has a more stylish edge.

1500 or Nothing

The title probably doesn't mean anything to you, well it didn't to me till my home girl Fifi showed me about them. 1500 or Nothing is collective of talented individuals who's skills fused together results live percussion in its finest form imagine a live orchestra of 5 members but with a different sound. 1500 or nothing probably have a huge part to play in quite a few songs turning up on your most played lists. They are in fact a highly accredited band who are integrating all of their musical talents to influence and produce songs in the states . Nu World follow these guys they are the truth!

The video is self explanatory!

A Night With The Gunners

Been away for a while, went to see the Gooners midweek against West Brom.
Decent game, good atmosphere, parking in North London on matchdays, madness just ask Ade.

Nosebleed seats, I know but still a lot of stuff. And we won as well.

Wishlist

Since I'm going away for a lil piece, like the boy Danté. Decided to post before I leave, nowhere special (Colchester) just without regular Internet. Just showing what I'm onto right now, 2 albums, 2 pairs of kicks and 2 pieces of clothing. The credit crunch and the wait for Student Loan is no joke.

Albums

Some are saying a return to form, some are saying hyped-up, need to listen for myself, so I can form an opinion.

A toss up between this and Raekwon's Only Built for Cuban Linx Pt II. I picked this because I will eventually buy The Chef's long awaited sequel, its just that musically this could be an impressive album rock gods MGMT are on this. Also Cudder impressed me when I saw him at the o2 Wireless Festival earlier this summer and yes, I buy albums.

Kicks
Not really a fan of hi-top trainers, but always believe a classic pair should be in your rotation of wearable kicks. I had a an obsession with all white Air Force Ones I recently dropped. Also wanted a pair of Jordans and this model, (4's in the series) in my opinion is the best one.
Yes, Vans appear on this blog again. Both of us are obviously fans. I just want these to replace to my other ones, they broke, yes broke, there is a tear in one of them. Madness I know.

Pieces of Clothing
Into a lot of black right now, just a plain fitted black tee. Extra smedium as well to show my 'muscles'. 'My clothes aren't tight, n**** they're cosy'. I agree Weezy couldn't say it better myself.

A name badge, cos that will mean I am employed. That's it.

I won't be gone 'til November. Promise.
